Tariff Consultations
I recently met with several local businesses across Kanata, Stittsville, Bells Corners and Carp to hear directly about the challenges they’re facing as a result of tariffs and to discuss their priorities. These conversations are an important opportunity to better understand the impact on local businesses and ensure their experiences help inform our government’s response and available supports.
Canada Investment Summit
Canada hosted its first-ever Canada Investment Summit, bringing together investors, business leaders, and public sector partners from around the world. The Summit highlighted the significant opportunities to attract investment and grow Canada’s economy, including in sectors where our community has deep expertise.
I’m particularly encouraged by growing investment in photonics, semiconductors, and quantum technologies – an opportunity to strengthen a Canadian technology ecosystem supporting AI, quantum, aerospace, and defence.
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
Tomorrow, September 30, is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. It is an important opportunity to reflect, listen, learn, and honour Survivors, their families, and communities affected by the legacy of residential schools.
I encourage everyone in our community to take time to learn more and participate in local events and activities marking this important day.

Great meeting the team at BluWave-ai to learn more about their work in AI and how they’re helping build innovative solutions here in our community.
I had the opportunity to visit Giatec Scientific as they celebrate 16 years of innovation, growing from an Ottawa startup into a global leader in construction technology. We discussed their continued growth, federal support for scaling, and industry challenges like tariffs. It’s exciting to see world-class Canadian innovation growing right here in our community.
Community Events and Visits
There has been no shortage of reasons to celebrate in our community! From the Kanata Multicultural Festival and Kanata Lakes Community Association Movie Night in the Park to the Carp Fair and the Kanata Chinese Seniors Support Centre Mid-Autumn Special Festival, it’s always wonderful to see neighbours and families coming together. I was also honoured to serve as Honorary Run Director for Kanata parkrun’s 9th Anniversary, and to join the Kanata Seniors Council’s 30th Anniversary Celebration. Congratulations to all the organizers, volunteers and community members who continue to make these events so special!
Kanata Food Cupboard Initiatives & Events
