Applications are now open for employers interested in hiring young people through the Canada Summer Jobs (CSJ) 2027 program.
Canada Summer Jobs helps young Canadians aged 15 to 30 gain valuable work experience, develop new skills and take important steps toward their future careers. At the same time, the program helps local employers bring enthusiastic young people into their workplaces and supports organizations that provide important services in our community.
I encourage eligible employers across Kanata, Stittsville, Bells Corners and Carp to consider applying for funding to create meaningful summer employment opportunities for young people in our community.
Supporting local opportunities
Each year, Canada Summer Jobs identifies national priorities that reflect Canada’s evolving needs. For 2027, the Government of Canada has established four national priorities for Canada Summer Jobs: construction; environmental and climate-related activities; developing digital skills or gaining exposure to artificial intelligence; and work with not-for-profit organizations that support underserved and equity-deserving communities.
Local priorities also help ensure the program responds to the needs and opportunities within individual communities.
For our community, local priorities include:
- Food security initiatives
- Professional, scientific and technical services
- Not-for-profit organizations
- Organizations supporting children and youth
- Organizations supporting seniors
These areas reflect the important work being done across Kanata, Stittsville, Bells Corners and Carp, while providing young people with opportunities to build practical skills and contribute to their community.
Who can apply?
Eligible employers can include not-for-profit organizations, public-sector organizations and private-sector organizations with 50 or fewer full-time employees.
Approved projects must provide full-time summer employment of between 30 and 40 hours per week, for a minimum of six weeks and a maximum of 16 weeks, between April 19 and August 28, 2027.
The application deadline is December 3, 2026.
I encourage local employers to take advantage of this opportunity to help young people gain valuable experience, strengthen their skills and build connections in our community.
