It’s been a busy few weeks back on Parliament Hill and in our community, with plenty of opportunities to connect with residents, local businesses and community organizations.
I also got to officially launch my Kanata Youth Council for this term. It’s inspiring to see so many young people eager to get involved and make a difference.

Tragedy at CFB Wainwright
I’m deeply saddened by the devastating fire at CFB Wainwright in Alberta. My thoughts are with the families who are grieving, those who have been injured, and everyone affected by this tragedy. I’m grateful to the first responders, medical professionals, military personnel and community members supporting those facing an incredibly difficult time.
Congratulations to Ottawa’s New City Council
Congratulations to Mayor Mark Sutcliffe on his re-election and to all newly elected and returning members of Ottawa City Council. I look forward to continuing to work together to support our communities, advance local priorities, and build a stronger Ottawa for everyone. Wishing you all the very best as you begin this new term!
Thank you, Kanata Food Cupboard
A big thank you to the Kanata Food Cupboard for distributing almost 600 Thanksgiving meals to families in our community. Congratulations as well on another successful Kanata Bites & Delights event, which brought our community together while raising funds for the School Snacks Program.
Next up is the Holiday Hamper Program. Details are available at KanataFoodCupboard.ca.

Canada Summer Jobs 2027
I’m happy to share that applications for Canada Summer Jobs 2027 are now open for employers. Every year, this program helps young Canadians take important steps toward their future careers while supporting the local businesses and organizations that make our communities stronger.
I encourage eligible employers in Kanata, Bells Corners, Stittsville and Carp to apply before December 3, 2026!
Industry Events and Visits
It was a pleasure to deliver opening remarks at CMC Microsystems’ Canada’s Semiconductor Symposium in Kanata. The discussions highlighted the important role semiconductors can play in strengthening domestic production, our economy and Canada’s resilience and security. It was also a great opportunity to showcase the strength of Kanata’s technology sector and its role in Canada’s future.

It was great to join leaders from government, industry, academia, and civil society at the Ottawa Responsible AI Summit. From protecting Canadians’ data to strengthening our digital sovereignty, responsible AI is about building trust, supporting innovation, and making government work better for Canadians. Canada has the talent and expertise to help shape what’s next. Together, let’s make sure we get it right!

I was pleased to host TECHNATION’s Procurement Industry Day and bring together technology leaders to discuss government procurement and opportunities for Canadian businesses. Hearing directly from industry is an important part of understanding the challenges businesses face and finding ways to better connect Canadian innovation with public sector needs.

Happy 80th anniversary to Nordion! It’s amazing to think about the difference a company right here in our community makes in the lives of people around the world. From helping keep medical devices safe to providing medical isotopes used in cancer care, Nordion plays an important role in healthcare, often in ways we may not even realize. Congratulations to the entire Nordion team on 80 years of making a difference in people’s lives, here at home and around the world.

I enjoyed meeting with the team at Solace to learn more about their work in real-time data and artificial intelligence. Their technology helps applications and systems share information quickly and reliably, with exciting potential applications across sectors. We also discussed opportunities to connect Canadian technology companies and expertise with citizen-facing services.

I welcomed the opportunity to participate in the Black Women’s Economic Security Roundtable, focused on the economic security and advancement of Black women in Canada’s technology sector. Bringing together industry and academic experts alongside women at different stages of their careers made for an important and thoughtful conversation about barriers, opportunities and how we can create more equitable pathways into tech.

Great to meet with Equispheres and learn more about the innovative metal powders they’re developing for 3D printing. With applications in aerospace, defence and automotive manufacturing, their work is helping advance Canadian manufacturing and strengthen domestic production. It was great to hear about their plans for growth and the opportunities ahead for this local company.
I enjoyed meeting with the team at Virtucom and hearing about their custom metal fabrication work right here in our community. We discussed the opportunities and challenges facing local manufacturers, from buying Canadian and tariffs to access to funding, equipment and skilled trades training. Supporting businesses like Virtucom is an important part of strengthening our local manufacturing sector.
Community Events and Visits
It’s been a busy few weeks connecting with residents and celebrating the people, businesses and organizations that make our community special. From congratulating Elite Turkish Bakery on its grand opening and joining neighbours at the Carp Village Harvest Supper to recognizing the Western Ottawa Community Resource Centre’s 40 years of service, there have been many opportunities to celebrate our community spirit. I also stopped by South March Medical Centre (their wait list is still open for new patients) to learn more about its work, and cheered on Brent Mansfield as he returned to Parliament Hill for his School Food Run, raising awareness about the National School Food Program.
Thank you to the volunteers, organizers and community leaders who continue to bring people together and make a difference across Kanata, Stittsville, Carp and Bells Corners.

Mark your calendars! The Kanata Santa Claus Parade returns on November 14 at 10 am. It’s always a wonderful opportunity to come together as a community and kick off the holiday season. To learn more, register a float or sign up to volunteer, visit KanataSantaParade.com.
Remembrance Day
On Remembrance Day, we honour those who gave their lives to serve our country and remember the sacrifices made by generations of Canadians.
Across Kanata, Stittsville, Carp and Bells Corners, our communities will come together for ceremonies, parades and gatherings to honour and remember those who served. I encourage you to take part in a local Remembrance Day event on November 11 and join your neighbours in paying tribute to the brave Canadians who served our country.
PROBUS Western Ottawa Visit to Parliament Hill
It was wonderful to welcome members of PROBUS Western Ottawa to Parliament Hill. I had the pleasure of welcoming them onto the floor of the House of Commons, followed by a guided tour of West Block and the opportunity to watch Question Period.

A reminder that visitors are welcome to watch live proceedings (including Question Period) in the House of Commons from the public galleries on a first-come first-served basis. Please visit my website for details and to reserve seating.
