Climate Action Incentive Arrives Today!

Today, the Climate Action Incentive Payment is being rebated to households across Ontario!

The Climate Action Incentive is a tax-free rebate to help Ontarians offset the cost of the federal carbon levy. Here’s how the math works out:

This year, single taxpayers in Ontario will receive a total rebate of $373, plus $186 for a spouse and $93 per child under 19. These amounts will be paid in quarterly installments.

Today, residents will receive the third quarterly installment of the Climate Action Incentive. Single taxpayers in Ontario will receive $93.25, plus $46.50 for a spouse and $23.25 per child under 19.

The best part? You don’t need to do anything to receive this rebate. As long as you have filed your 2021 income tax return, you will receive the Climate Action Incentive automatically!

If you have direct deposit enabled, you may have already seen this payment in your bank account as “Climate Action Incentive” (wording may vary based on your financial institution).

Residents will receive the Climate Action Incentive in the same way that they receive all other federal benefits and tax refunds.

Note: If you do not receive your Climate Action Incentive rebate on the expected payment date, please wait 10 working days, then contact the Canada Revenue Agency.

Putting a price on pollution is the most effective way of reducing our carbon emissions.

Canada's greenhouse gas emissions have reduced by 9.3% since 2005 levels, the equivalent of removing over 21 million gas-powered passenger vehicles from the roads for 1 year! (Source: Environment and Climate Change Canada)

Across Ontario, most households will receive more through the Climate Action Incentive rebate than they pay as a result of the federal carbon pollution pricing system. (Source: Department of Finance Canada)
