Reserve Seating for Question Period

When the House of Commons is in session, visitors are welcome to watch live proceedings (including Question Period) in the House of Commons from the public galleries on a first-come first-served basis. Question Period runs from 2:15PM to 3:15PM every Monday through Thursday, and 11:15AM to 12:00PM every Friday. Please arrive at least 15 to 30 minutes in advance.

Seats in the public galleries can be reserved by MP Jenna Sudds for constituents of Kanata—Carleton and their guests. If you are not a constituent of Kanata—Carleton, please use this online tool to find your Member of Parliament’s contact information.

To expedite the process, please request a seat reservation for Question Period in advance, using the form below.

Please note that same-day requests are not possible to accommodate. Groups of 10 or more guests take longer to process and may incur delays.

 Rules for Visitors Attending Question Period

The House of Commons is located in West Block at 111 Wellington St. Visitors must enter through the Visitor Welcome Centre, located between West Block and Centre Block. All visitors will need to go through a series of security screening processes at the Visitor Welcome Centre. Please bring at least one piece of photo ID for the security screening process.

Parking is not available on Parliament Hill; visitors can park in one of the public pay parking lots in the downtown core.

Visitors may not bring cameras, recording devices, binoculars, umbrellas, overcoats, bags and parcels.

Visitors are not allowed to read, write, clap, or speak during debates. Participating in any form of demonstration inside the buildings is prohibited.

Visitors are asked not to leave or enter the galleries when a vote is in progress.

At a minimum, visitors are required to wear casual dress and footwear. Hats must be removed, though traditional and religious headwear is permitted.
