Yesterday, our Government introduced the Safe Social Media Act. It marks a significant step toward creating safer digital spaces for Canadians, particularly children and youth.

Youth Councils play an important role in the work we do as MPs. They help us stay connected to the priorities and perspectives of young people, while also giving participants the opportunity to build skills and deepen their understanding of Parliament and democracy. It was a pleasure to watch the debate between students from my Youth Council and those from MP Vandenbeld’s riding. Seeing their confidence develop throughout the discussion and hearing them present thoughtful, passionate arguments in support of their positions was genuinely impressive!

Today, the Government of Canada announced that the Canadian Photonics Fabrication Centre will spin off into an independent entity - a landmark moment for Kanata, for the National Capital Region, and for Canada's position in the global semiconductor industry.

The return of our local farmers’ markets is a sure sign that summer is on its way. I’m looking forward to seeing many familiar faces, meeting new neighbours, and hope you’ll say hello if you see me out and about.

Today, Prime Minister Carney announced new measures to make groceries and other essentials more affordable for Canadians.

As I look back on this past year, I am reminded just how special our community truly is. I had the pleasure of celebrating Canada Day in Kanata and attending so many wonderful events — from the Carp Fair to the Santa Claus Parade, to our Farmers’ and Holiday Markets — and enjoyed countless business visits, neighbourhood chats, and conversations with constituents.

The Kanata Santa Claus Parade always brings out the very best of our community. Families, neighbours, and volunteers coming together with endless holiday spirit — it’s truly a highlight of the season. Grateful to be part of this tradition year after year.
