Newsletter - March 2026

Happy Spring! It’s nice to see the days getting longer after what feels to be a very long (and snowy) winter.

I hope you had a wonderful March Break, whether it was spent enjoying time with family, getting outdoors, or taking part in the many events and celebrations in our community. It was a pleasure to connect with so many of you over the past few weeks at local gatherings marking International Women’s Day, Eid, Lunar New Year, and other special occasions that reflect the diversity and vibrancy of our community.

Constituency Office Easter Closure

Please note that my Constituency Office will be closed on Friday, April 3 and Monday, April 6 for the Easter long weekend. To everyone celebrating, Happy Easter!

Congratulations, Team Canada!

Congratulations to Canada’s medalists and to all the athletes who made us proud at the Winter Paralympics. A special shoutout to Stittsville’s own Collinda Joseph for bringing home gold in wheelchair curling!

Making Life More Affordable

I’m happy to share that Bill C-4, the Making Life More Affordable for Canadians Act, recently received Royal Assent. This means new measures are now in place to help lower everyday costs for residents in Kanata, Bells Corners, Stittsville, and Carp, including:

  • Middle-Class Tax Cut: Residents in our community can keep more of what they earn, with savings of up to $420 per person, providing meaningful relief for local families.

  • First-Time Home Buyers’ Rebate: First-time buyers in our community can save up to $50,000 on new homes through GST relief, helping more people achieve homeownership close to where they live and work.

  • Removal of the Consumer Fuel Charge: This is making everyday commuting and errands more affordable for drivers across our community.

Protecting Canadians from Financial Scams & Crime

Financial scams and abuse are on the rise, especially impacting seniors, and our government is taking action to keep Canadians safe.

  • By strengthening oversight and enforcement through Canada’s Financial Intelligence Unit, FINTRAC, increasing resources for the RCMP, and establishing a new Canadian Financial Crimes Agency, we are cracking down on fraud and money laundering while improving transparency and accountability.

  • We are also addressing emerging risks, including those linked to cryptocurrency and digital financial services, to better protect Canadians and safeguard the integrity of our financial system.

Canada Advances Defence Industrial Strategy

It was a pleasure to attend the announcement at the National Research Council of Canada highlighting a major step forward in Canada’s Defence Industrial Strategy. At the centre of the announcement was our government's commitment to invest more than $900 million in defence research and innovation, supporting the development of next-generation technologies such as drones, quantum systems, advanced surveillance capabilities, and biomedical threat deterrence.

With a $200 million investment in sovereign launch capacity, we’re ensuring Canada can launch satellites from our own soil—strengthening national security, growing our economy, and creating high-skilled jobs.

Further, Canada’s new Defence Industrial Strategy will help create up to 125,000 good Canadian jobs while strengthening our security and economy. Here in the National Capital Region, we have the talent, research, and defence expertise to help turn this strategy into real opportunity.

UK Visit

Last week, I met with global industry leaders in London, England, to deepen our Canada–UK collaboration on the technologies shaping our future. In an era of rapid change, trusted partnerships matter more than ever. Canada offers a stable, values-driven environment, world-class talent, and strength across AI, quantum, and advanced manufacturing, making us a reliable partner in building resilient, competitive economies.

I also had the chance to connect with High Commissioner Bill Blair at Canada House for a productive conversation on strengthening our countries’ collaboration - from economic growth and innovation to shared security priorities. Strong relationships with partners like the UK complement our broader work with allies across the transatlantic community.

Canada’s approach is simple: build practical partnerships that drive growth, reinforce stability, and create opportunity at home and abroad.

Kanata Youth Council Visit to Parliament

It was wonderful to welcome the Kanata Youth Council to Parliament! The group toured West Block, watched Question Period live in the House of Commons, and experienced firsthand the energy of Parliament in action. After QP, they also had the opportunity to meet with my colleagues and learn more about the work that happens behind the scenes on the Hill.

Community Events and Visits

It was an honour to join neighbours, community leaders, and friends at the 6th Annual Community & Friendship Dinner. In a time when the world can feel uncertain, gatherings like this remind us that trust, belonging, and understanding grow when we choose dialogue, curiosity, and connection. I’m grateful to the Intercultural Dialogue Institute Ottawa, the Anatolian Heritage Federation, the Ottawa Police, and everyone who helped bring this special evening together.

It was a very meaningful week marking International Women’s Day, from joining the PwC Women’s Inclusion Network in Ottawa, to connecting with inspiring leaders at the Women on Wednesday (WoW) event, and visiting Nokia’s StrongHer Canada gathering focused on this year’s theme: Give to Gain. When women lead, communities grow stronger. That means expanding opportunity, opening doors, and ensuring more voices are part of the decisions shaping our future.

It was a pleasure to join community members at Jami Omar Mosque and the Kanata Muslim Association to mark the end of Ramadan. After a month of reflection, prayer, and service, Eid is a time to come together in gratitude and celebration with loved ones.

I had the opportunity to visit TutorOcean’s headquarters and connect with their team about the work they’re doing right here in our community. It was great to see how government support has helped drive their growth over the past year.

Pleasure visiting J-Squared Technologies and connecting with their team about their work in our community. It was great to learn about their growth and plans for a new 28,000 sq. ft. facility in Kanata opening this May. This expansion will create high-value jobs and strengthen our local aerospace and defence sector.

Old Quarry Trail

Please note, a section of the Old Quarry Trail is currently closed until further notice. Work is underway to realign the trail and open at least two new loops to allow visitors to explore both the wooded and wetland areas. The project will also include the addition of a new viewpoint area next to the wetland. For updates on the projects, please visit the NCC website.

Free Community Tax Clinic

I’d like to thank the many volunteers who assist constituents, free of charge, with simple 2025 Income Tax Returns. For details and to register, please visit JennaSuddsMP.ca/taxclinic.

Join me for Question Period

A reminder that visitors are welcome to watch live proceedings (including Question Period) in the House of Commons from the public galleries on a first-come first-served basis. Visit my website for details and to reserve seating.
