Electric Vehicle Week
Transportation accounts for 25 percent of total greenhouse gas emissions in Canada. One of the best ways to cut pollution is getting more clean cars on the road.
That’s why the Government of Canada is committing to a mandatory 100% zero-emission vehicle sales target by 2035 for all new light-duty vehicles.
Electric vehicles make a lot of economic sense, and can end up being less expensive than comparable gas powered vehicles. Canadian companies that specialize in EV batteries can repurpose and recycle 95% of the battery components today.
With federal rebates of up to $5,000 available, there's never been a better time to get behind the wheel of an electric vehicle! This incentive program has helped Canadians purchase or lease over 141,000 new ZEVs.
As electric vehicles become more popular, we’re also building the infrastructure needed to support their growth. Canada already has thousands of ZEV charging and re-fuelling stations. The number of new locations continues to grow. We’re on track to build over 84,700 new EV charging stations by 2027.
Making zero-emission vehicles more affordable and investing in charging stations and infrastructure will mean cleaner air and a healthier environment for future generations.
Happy Electric Vehicle Week!
