All Provinces and Territories Join Ottawa’s National School Food Program
As of today, we now have a National School Food Program, with every province and territory having signed agreements with our government. More than 400,000 students in every corner of Canada will be able to access culturally relevant and healthy food while in school, ensuring that they can put their best foot forward everyday of their lives.
This investment will mean that some pressure can be taken off parents, with families of two saving on average up to $800 on their grocery bill each year. We won’t stop supporting families and making life more affordable in any way that we can. This will always be my priority.
I want to also take a moment to thank school food advocates. Whether you’re an educator, a family or community member who has volunteered with a school food program or advocated for programs in your community, we couldn’t have done this without you. And more importantly, thanks to your passion and commitment we are building a system that will lift up children today and for generations to come.
