Supreme Court of Canada dismisses ClubLink development appeal
Today, we have learned that the Supreme Court of Canada has opted to not hear the appeal in the City of Ottawa’s battle with ClubLink regarding the proposed development of the Kanata Golf and Country Club.
I know this dismissal comes as a disappointment to Kanata residents—many of whom were hoping that the Supreme Court would provide final arbitration and prevent ClubLink’s development of our cherished greenspace. I share in this disappointment.
Nevertheless, the fight continues. The Ontario Supreme Court’s appeal refers many clauses of the agreement back to lower court for further review. Additionally, there are still unresolved major outstanding hurdles with ClubLink’s development application currently with the City of Ottawa.
I am committed to ensuring that the interests of Kanata residents are protected throughout this legal battle. To that end, I will continue to work with Kanata North City Councillor Cathy Curry, the Kanata Greenspace Protection Coalition, and our community to support efforts to stop this proposed development.
