We are lucky to have many places in Kanata—Carleton to enjoy the colourful foliage. What’s your favourite spot for a fall hike, walk, or run?
Here's my update for our community from the month of September.
National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
September 30th marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.
Take the time to learn and reflect. We all have a role to play on the journey toward reconciliation.
STATEMENT: Killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar
On September 18th, the Prime Minister informed the House of Commons and all Canadians about credible allegations of a potential link between agents of the Government of India and the killing of a Canadian Citizen, Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
I understand this is deeply upsetting for many in our community, particularly South Asians and families who come from India, regardless of religion. This is a time to let the legal process continue as it must.

Newsletter — April 2023
I’d like to start today’s update with a shoutout to my team who is incredibly busy behind the scenes, assisting Kanata—Carleton constituents with various federal issues, such as passport renewal applications, immigration inquiries, work permits, tax filing services, and more.
Assisting constituents in this way is some of the most personal and fulfilling work of being a Member of Parliament, but it wouldn’t be possible without my team and their compassion.
Spring Flooding Update
The flood levels are currently below what residents experienced in the spring of 2017 and 2019. However, residents whose properties and neighbourhoods have experienced flooding in the past 20 years should expect flooding this week. This includes Constance and Buckham’s Bay, along Barlow Crescent to Pinhey’s Point.
If your property is at risk, please reach out to West Carleton Disaster Relief at 613-447-4446. If it is an emergency situation, call 9-1-1.
Thank you to West-Carleton—March City Councillor Clarke Kelly and his office for compiling this report. This update, and subsequent updates, can be found on Councillor Kelly’s website.

Public Service Alliance of Canada begins strike action
Though productive discussion took place and progress was made, the federal government was unfortunately unable to reach an agreement in its negotiations with the Public Service Alliance of Canada.
With this nation-wide strike action, federal departments and agencies will face service disruptions. Here’s how you may be affected.
Strengthening Canada’s position as a global tech leader
Canadians deserve strong, secure, and reliable wireless networks and services.
By investing in Ericsson Canada, our government continues to support and strengthen the 5G networks of today and 6G networks of the future. The partnership also further solidifies Canada as a global leader in next-generation networks and creates more well-paying jobs.
International Day of Pink
Bullying is still very prevalent in schools and online with 2SLGBTQI+ youth experiencing higher rates of verbal, physical, and emotional abuse. These experiences can have devastating long-term health impacts that can include depression and anxiety, physical injury, emotional distress, and sometimes suicide.
These issues are not unique to our country, but I’m proud that the Day of Pink, a made-in-Canada cause, is helping young people around the world.
Budget 2023
The 2023 federal budget is the government’s plan to build a stronger, more sustainable, and more secure Canadian economy—for everyone.
