Best Theratronics Update

If you’re like me and you live in Kanata North, you’ve probably seen the protest on March Road. Unionized employees of Best Theratronics have been on Strike for 6 months.

I’ve received a few messages and emails of concern from community members about the possibility of unmanned nuclear material. In August, I shared these concerns with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC), who deployed inspectors within days.

On October 7th, the CNSC shared the following on X: “Our inspectors have been onsite and continue to monitor regulatory compliance at Best Theratronics in Ottawa, Ontario, during the @UniforTheUnion and @psac_afpc members’ strike, to help ensure the safety of people and the environment.”

I’m keeping close tabs on the issue and continue to engage with CNSC and the Union. The owner has declined to meet with me.

Read more on the concerns I shared and the CNSC response here.

Thank you,
Jenna Sudds
