Join the Kanata—Carleton Youth Council

The Kanata—Carleton Youth Council is a council for students, run by students.

High school and university students from across Kanata—Carleton are encouraged to apply to learn more about the Parliamentary process, government institutions, and how to make change in our community.

Members will be able to participate in an internal election, propose policy changes within caucus, and speak to their Member of Parliament, Jenna Sudds, about the issues they wish to see addressed by the federal government.

The Kanata—Carleton Youth Council meets on the last Friday of each month.

The deadline for registration is November 9, 2023.

Meet the Kanata—Carleton Youth Council!

These young leaders are making change in our community! By participating in the Kanata—Carleton Youth Council, students are given a platform to raise their voice about the issues that matter most to them, like climate change, mental health, and more.

The Kanata—Carleton Youth Council is a non-partisan volunteer initiative with the goal of improving the lives of young people within our constituency. The Youth Council is organized by the office of MP Jenna Sudds, led by youth for youth, and meets monthly.

Take a look at some of the Youth Council’s work:

Climate Change Policy Session with Parliamentary Secretary Terry Duguid

Stand with Ukraine Student Solidarity Day

In response to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the students of the Kanata—Carleton Youth Council worked to organize a day of solidarity. Students across Ottawa were encouraged to wear Ukraine’s national colours and donate to humanitarian efforts. The initiative gained the support of the entire Ottawa Catholic School Board!

Inaugural Meeting

The Kanata—Carleton Youth Council held its first meeting, electing a Youth Prime Minister and appointing a Cabinet of Youth Ministers!
