It’s Time to Build.

Far too many Canadians — particularly young Canadians — are struggling to find homes they can afford. Across the country, families, workers, and seniors are feeling the pressure of rising housing costs. Solving Canada’s housing crisis requires immediate action, innovative thinking, and strong partnerships at every level of government.

That’s why our government is stepping up with bold new investments to increase housing supply and make homes more affordable.

Last month, Prime Minister Mark Carney launched Build Canada Homes (BCH) — a new federal agency that will transform the way homes are built in Canada. With an initial $13 billion investment, Build Canada Homes will help double the pace of housing construction over the next decade by bringing together the best of development, financing, and innovation.

By partnering with provinces, municipalities, Indigenous communities, and the private and non-profit sectors, Build Canada Homes will:

  • Get large housing projects off the ground faster,

  • Attract private capital into affordable homebuilding, and

  • Enable modern manufacturers and builders to invest in new factories and expand capacity.

This new approach will help us build fast, smart, and sustainably, ensuring projects are de-risked, approvals are streamlined, and builders can get shovels in the ground without delay.

Building a Stronger, More Affordable Ottawa

That commitment to building more homes, faster, is already taking shape right here in our community. Yesterday, I was thrilled to announce over $136 million in federal support — delivering 316 new rental homes at 1350 Fisher Avenue in Ottawa. I was proud to be joined by my colleagues Yasir Naqvi and Anita Vandenbeld as we take another step to tackle the housing crisis.

It’s time to build.
