I’d like to start by expressing my deep gratitude to the teams at Hydro Ottawa, Hydro One, out of town crews, first responders, City of Ottawa staff, and the many community groups and volunteers who have helped restore safety and power in our communities following the unprecedented storm on May 21st.
Decreasing wait times at Canada’s airports
As of new reports, less than 10% of departing passengers at Pearson are waiting for more than 15 minutes, compared to 23% in early May.
STATEMENT: Roe v. Wade Overturned by SCOTUS
As Canadians watch the ideological backsliding of the United States’ once-enshrined reproductive rights, we now hold two moral obligations: to become a country of medical refuge for women in need of an abortion; and to ensure the same erosion of fundamental bodily autonomy never finds its way onto our country’s legislative or judicial agenda.
Canada’s Affordability Plan

Vaccine requirements suspending on June 20
Effective June 20th, vaccination will no longer be a requirement to board a plane or train in Canada.
Other public health measures, such as wearing a mask, continue to apply and will be enforced throughout a traveller’s journey on a plane or train.
Applications for Special Representative on Combatting Islamophobia now open
As we commemorate the one-year anniversary of the London attack and the five-year anniversary of the Québec Mosque shooting, the urgency for our government to take further actions to combat hate and all forms of racism is evident.
Implementing $10-a-day childcare
On March 28, 2022, our government announced an agreement with the Province of Ontario that will deliver high-quality, affordable, flexible and inclusive child care for families.
Since then, Ontario is still in the process of developing their provincial childcare system and will be implementing it through their municipalities.
Tougher gun laws for safer communities
To address rising handgun violence, our government is implementing a national freeze on handguns to prevent individuals from bringing newly acquired handguns into Canada and from buying, selling, and transferring handguns within the country.
Local politicians hit the ground running for women’s mental health support

Lowering cell phone & internet costs
While the progress we have made and witnessed to date on lowering prices is encouraging, more needs to be done. Canadians still pay too much for their Internet and cellphone services.

Fixing delays at Canada’s airports
As travel begins to restart, Canadians have been experiencing long lines and delays at airports across the country.
Similar delays have been reported around the world as the air sector recovers but is experiencing challenging labor shortages in different parts of the system. These delays are caused by a combination of several factors.
