Passport Canada Service Update
With the easing of public health restrictions and Canadians resuming their travels, Service Canada is now experiencing a large increase in demand for passports. This has resulted in lineups and longer than normal wait times for in-person service.
New Commission on the invocation of the Emergencies Act
When our government invoked the Emergencies Act to help end the illegal blockades and get our country moving again, we committed to Canadians that we’d be upfront and transparent about it. Today, Minister Champagne announced that GM is investing over $2 billion to secure thousands of good, well-paying jobs and to launch Canada’s first full-scale commercial electric vehicle production facility.
As a fellow electric vehicle driver, this is such an exciting announcement for Canada — and for Canada’s environment!
High-speed internet at $20 a month for low income seniors, families
Families eligible to receive the maximum Canada Child Benefit or seniors eligible to receive the maximum Guaranteed Income Supplement qualify for high-speed internet for $20/month. Those eligible will receive information about how to apply.

National Quarterly Update on Opioid Harms
Today, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) released their National Quarterly Update on Opioid and Stimulant-related Harms in Canada.
Tragically, the report has found that there have been 5,369 apparent opioid toxicity deaths during the first 9 months of 2021.
This is heartbreaking news. These are not just numbers. They are beloved friends and family, community members, and coworkers.

Additional sanctions on Russia, humanitarian aid to Ukraine
Effective immediately, Canada will be imposing another round of sanctions targeting President Putin and his Chief of Staff and Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
Canada is also imposing additional sanctions on Belarus and its leaders for aiding and abetting Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
