NEWS: Canada to match donations for humanitarian response in Gaza and West Bank
Today, the Honourable Ahmed Hussen, Minister of International Development, announced that the Government of Canada will match donations made to the Humanitarian Coalition’s Gaza Humanitarian Emergency Appeal.
Every donation made by individuals to the Humanitarian Coalition and its members retroactively from October 7, 2023, until November 12, 2023, will be matched, up to a maximum of $10 million.

On Persons Day, I'm forever thankful for the courage of the Famous Five who fought to ensure women could participate in politics.
While their victory did not benefit all women equally, they laid the foundation for women to run for office and serve their communities in the halls of government.

National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
September 30th marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour the children who never returned home and Survivors of residential schools, as well as their families and communities.
Take the time to learn and reflect. We all have a role to play on the journey toward reconciliation.
STATEMENT: Killing of Hardeep Singh Nijjar
On September 18th, the Prime Minister informed the House of Commons and all Canadians about credible allegations of a potential link between agents of the Government of India and the killing of a Canadian Citizen, Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
I understand this is deeply upsetting for many in our community, particularly South Asians and families who come from India, regardless of religion. This is a time to let the legal process continue as it must.

July has been a busy month for Kanata—Carleton!
As we head into August—the final month of summer recess before the House of Commons resumes—I'm speaking directly with residents to hear your feedback, stopping in at local businesses, working with my new provincial counterpart (more on that below!), and getting up to speed on the functions of my new role as Minister.
