Since April 1 2022, over 302,000 passport applications were received. As a result, Service Canada is experiencing increased passport processing times, and is required to prioritize those travelling imminently.

April showers bring May flowers! We certainly had our fair share of rain during the month of April, and I personally am very much looking forward to warmer weather and enjoying the many parks, pathways, and greenspaces we have available to us in Kanata—Carleton.

The past two years, in particular, have reminded us of the systemic barriers and vulnerabilities faced by Canadians with disabilities.

With the easing of public health restrictions and Canadians resuming their travels, Service Canada is now experiencing a large increase in demand for passports. This has resulted in lineups and longer than normal wait times for in-person service.

When our government invoked the Emergencies Act to help end the illegal blockades and get our country moving again, we committed to Canadians that we’d be upfront and transparent about it. We have kept that commitment – and today we’re taking a further step with the establishment of the Public Order Emergency Commission.

Earlier today, I sent a letter to Dr. Fullerton, voicing my concerns with the recent Ontario Land Tribunal ruling and echoing the asks she received from Kanata North Councillor Curry.

Budget 2022 proposes additional measures that will make the tax system more fair, and new steps to ensure that the federal government is delivering the effective programs and services that Canadians deserve.

With today’s announcement of a multi-year childcare agreement with the province of Ontario, the federal government has secured a childcare agreement—and a plan to cut childcare costs in half—for every province and territory. Welcome aboard, Ontario!

Today, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) released their National Quarterly Update on Opioid and Stimulant-related Harms in Canada.

Tragically, the report has found that there have been 5,369 apparent opioid toxicity deaths during the first 9 months of 2021.

This is heartbreaking news. These are not just numbers. They are beloved friends and family, community members, and coworkers.

Our government has reached a confidence and supply agreement with the New Democratic Party.

From my perspective, this agreement enables us to govern more effectively, and fulfill the mandate given to us in the last election.
